“If I have stolen government money…” — Senator Dino Melaye speaks about his wealth
African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Senator Dino Melaye, has said he is financially comfortable but does not consider himself satisfied with his wealth.
Melaye made the remarks in a viral podcast while speaking about his wealth, source of income and relationship with God.

The former senator said he was contented with what he had, stressing that he believed legitimate wealth came from God.
“Well, I will not agree that I’m so wealthy, but I will say I’m comfortable to the glory of God. I will say I’m not satisfied, but I’m not hungry. I will say I’m contented.”
Melaye also addressed questions about the source of his wealth, saying he would not criticise the government if he had acquired his wealth through illicit means.
“But I want to tell you that legitimate wealth comes only from God Almighty. If my wealth is ill-gotten, if I have stolen government money, I will not be criticising government because it would have long come after me.”
‘I’ve never been invited by EFCC or ICPC’
The ADC chieftain further claimed that he had never been invited by any of Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies because, according to him, he had never been involved in government contracts.
“I’ve never been invited by EFCC or ICPC or any of the anti-corruption agencies in this country because I’ve never done government contracts, whether at federal or state level.”
Melaye said his prayers were not centred on material possessions, revealing that he had never asked God specifically for money or a car.
“I’ve never prayed to God to give me a car. I’ve never prayed to God Almighty to ask him to give me money. Never.”
He said his main prayer was for divine direction rather than material wealth.
“I’ve never asked for any material thing from God. Never. My prayer to God always is God give me direction.”
