Pastor Sarah Omakwu warns young men against marrying older women

Nigerian cleric Sarah Omakwu has stirred debate online after expressing her opinion on young men marrying women who are older than them, describing the trend as a “red flag.”

Speaking during a recent church sermon, the cleric argued that such relationships often come with challenges, adding that modern women are different from those of previous generations.

In her words, she said:

“I’m seeing young men these days marrying women that are older than them. That is a red flag. You will say, ‘My parents did it, so it’s not a big deal.’ That was that generation when women were patient.”

Pastor Omakwu further stated that some young men avoid women their age because they consider them immature, insisting that such thinking reflects immaturity on both sides.

She questioned how a younger man could comfortably manage a marriage with an older woman while constantly being reminded to respect her because of the age difference.

“That woman go look you for face tell you wetin your mama no fit tell you. Those of you that say, ‘My agemates are too childish,’ you too, you’re childish. How do you even manage someone you’re older than? Every day she’s saying, ‘You better respect me.’

Anyway, it’s my opinion. Do whatever you want with it. If you like, nail me on the internet, I don’t care. You can only nail me on the internet. You cannot nail me on the cross because you won’t find me to nail me,” she added.

Her remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with many social media users sharing differing opinions on age differences in marriage.
