“One work cannot sustain you as a Nigerian” – Man
A Nigerian man has lamented the economic pressures facing young Nigerians, arguing that the country’s current realities have made marriage increasingly difficult for many men.
In a video, he said many Nigerians had become accustomed to the country’s challenges and sometimes treated serious economic difficulties as a joke.

“Una no know how this country don take spoil una lives. Una think say na cruise. Una no know how Nigeria as a country don spoil una life.”
He specifically pointed to the cost of marriage and household responsibilities, saying some men are afraid to marry because they are already struggling to meet their individual expenses.
“Make 31-year-old man dey fear to marry because of expenses. Your mates for other countries don marry born finish.”
The man compared the situation with what he described as the experience of young adults in countries where systems and employment opportunities make it easier for people to establish themselves earlier.
“At 22, 23 your life don dey you don get work, you don get finish school. Your life is just balanced because the system works.”
According to him, a Nigerian man in his early 30s may still be considered a “play boy” despite working and earning an income, when the reality may be that he is deliberately postponing marriage because of financial responsibilities.
“31 years old man for Nigeria na still play boy. No be say e no wan marry. Him don calculate am. Only me dey. See wetin I dey spend. See wetin I dey chop. Add two people mouth for me I go d!e.”
He also argued that many men who appear financially stable are often working multiple jobs to keep up with their expenses.
“No be say he lazy. No be say he no dey work. E dey work round the clock. E no get any man wey dey work one work for Nigeria. Any man wey you see say e dey solve and pay him bills, him dey work more than one work.”
He concluded by urging Nigerians to recognise the seriousness of the economic situation rather than simply treating the difficulties as something to joke about.
“We don’t know how bad the country is and we dey catch cruise with am.”
