Hours after the impeachment of Philip Shaibu, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State wasted no time in selecting his new deputy, Omobayo Godwins, a 37-year-old individual, to fill the position.

Already, friends and well-wishers have gathered at the inauguration venue for the swearing-in ceremony.

Born July 19, 1986, Omobayo hails from Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state.

Omobayo Godwins holds a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

With such educational qualifications, Omobayo is well-prepared to bring a professional and expert approach to the field of public administration.

He is a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

Prior to his recent appointment, Omobayo Godwins gained valuable experience as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited.

His role allowed him to develop his skills in operations, particularly in the South-South area. During this time, he provided exceptional services and contributed to the growth of the business in the region. This hands-on experience will undoubtedly be beneficial as he takes on his new responsibilities as the deputy governor.

He has also been active in politics in his local government, building bridges of trust with the people and mobilising them for common causes, and breaking political barriers to the chagrin of his opponents.
