Messi set to attract another Barcelona player Roberto to MLS

The influence of Lionel Messi in the United States’ Major League Soccer may not have ended with his own arrival at Inter Miami.

Mail Online has reported that Barcelona’s captain Sergi Roberto and former Messi teammate is contemplating a switch to MLS when his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have already moved from Barcelona to Inter Miami, and have provided positive feedbacks about their experiences in the American league.

Several other former Barcelona players, including Oriol Rosell, Ilie Sanchez, and Andreu Fontas, have also been approached.

Roberto, 31, is popular for his love for New York, where he frequently visits with his wife and model Coral Simanovich.

The player has been with Barcelona for over a decade, starting off from the club’s youth team. He has so far made over 350 official appearances for the Spanish giants.

However, his role at Barcelona has faded this season, and except he gains a more significant role under coach Xavi, it appears likely that his time with the Catalan club will conclude this season, opening up the possibilities of a move to MLS.
