“Makinde is only out to make some noise and distract the global community” — Oyo APC knocks governor over 2027 ambition
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has taken a swipe at Governor Seyi Makinde over his reported 2027 presidential ambition, insisting that he lacks the capacity to challenge President Bola Tinubu.
The party made its position known in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, in Ibadan, describing Makinde’s political moves as a distraction.

The statement followed remarks by Makinde that he would be available to receive chieftaincy titles after completing his tenure as governor in May 2027.
Oyo APC dismisses Makinde’s presidential chances
Reacting to the governor’s political prospects, Sadare said, “It is important for us to reiterate that Governor Makinde does not possess the wherewithal to slug it out with President Bola Tinubu in 2027, but he (Makinde) is only out to make some noise and distract the global community.”
The APC spokesperson further argued that Makinde would struggle to make a significant impact if he eventually appeared on the presidential ballot.
Sadare stated, “Makinde can afford to display campaign posters and billboards in parts of Oyo and Bauchi states for obvious reasons, but the best he can get, even if he gets himself on the ballot, is to come in a distant 8th position.”
APC warns over alleged use of public funds
Beyond questioning Makinde’s chances in the 2027 presidential race, the Oyo APC accused the governor of wasting state resources on his political ambition.
Sadare warned, “However, Makinde is being monitored as he embarks on a political journey that has failed before its commencement, and he will be made to cough out all the public funds wasted on it.”
The party also criticised Makinde over his reported warning to traditional and religious leaders against partisanship ahead of the 2027 elections.
