“It’s been extremely difficult for his children” – Family of slain Oyo teacher cries out

The family of late Oyo school teacher, Michael Oyedokun, has appealed to the public and media platforms to stop sharing graphic videos and photos linked to his tragic death.

Oyedokun was reportedly killed after bandits attacked schools in the Aholo-Esinle community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Family Makes Emotional Appeal

In a statement shared via Facebook on Tuesday, May 19, a family member identified as Adesewa Oladosu pleaded with Nigerians to be sensitive to the emotional pain the family is currently facing.

According to her, the repeated circulation of the disturbing videos and images has continued to traumatize the deceased’s loved ones.

“Hello everyone, please we sincerely appeal to the public and media platforms to kindly reduce or stop sharing the graphic videos and pictures of our beloved uncle,” she wrote.

She added that although the family appreciates the love, concern, and sympathy shown by the public, the constant exposure to the disturbing content has made coping with the loss even harder.

Children Reportedly Struggling Emotionally

Adesewa revealed that the late teacher’s children are currently sitting for their WAEC examinations, making the situation even more painful for the family.

His children are currently writing their WAEC exams, and it has been extremely difficult emotionally for them,” she stated.

She further appealed to those posting about the incident online to either blur the graphic content or make use of official family-approved photos instead.

Bandits Released Disturbing Video

The appeal comes days after bandits reportedly invaded the Aholo-Esinle community last Friday, abducting pupils, students, and staff members from four schools in the area.

A disturbing video allegedly showing the beheading of Oyedokun later surfaced online on Sunday, May 17, sparking outrage and grief across social media.

The family, however, urged the public to prioritize compassion and protect their mental and emotional wellbeing during the difficult period.
