“I was too embarrassed…” – Lady dumps man after he made her pay her birthday bill

A lady has shared how she ended a relationship with a man after her birthday outing left her both embarrassed and disappointed.

The story, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @Priye644455, explained how a planned surprise celebration ended in shock when she was asked to pay the bill for both of them.

Birthday Surprise Goes Wrong

According to her, the man had repeatedly asked what she wanted as a birthday gift, but she only requested something thoughtful and surprising.

“I once stopped talking to a man because of what happened on my birthday. He kept asking me what gift I wanted, and I told him that I just wanted something thoughtful. A surprise. Nothing expensive. On my birthday he told me to dress up because he had a surprise for me. I was excited,” she said.

Dinner Date

She explained that he took her to a restaurant where they both ate, laughed, and enjoyed the evening together.

“This man took me to a restaurant, ordered food, ate happily, laughed with me the entire night…”

However, the situation changed when the bill arrived.

“…then when the bill came he looked at me and said: ‘Your surprise is that I’m teaching you not to depend on men.’”

“I Thought He Was Joking…” – Lady Says

The lady stated she was confused and embarrassed, as she initially thought he was joking.

“I thought he was joking. He wasn’t.”

She added that she later paid for both of them because she felt too embarrassed to argue in public.

“I paid for both of us because I was too embarrassed to argue in public.”

Man’s Message After the Date

After she got home, the man allegedly sent her a message praising how she handled the situation.

“When I got home he texted: ‘You’re wife material. You handled that maturely.’”

Lady Ends Relationship and Blocks Him

She revealed that she immediately blocked him after the incident.

“I blocked him immediately.”

“He’s not ready to be a man.”
