She recounted that the incident happened when she was sixteen and was simply holding hands with a boy when her mother unexpectedly broke down in tears, expressing deep fear about her future and moral direction. The emotional moment, she said, left a lasting impact on her life choices.

“My mother saw me with a boy when I was sixteen, nothing big, we were just holding hands. She didn’t say anything and I felt it was no biggie until I got home. She was literally crying.”

Fear of repeating her past

“She said she is scared for me, she is scared I might end up being wayward or worse, get pregnant at an early age. These weren’t crocodile tears, they were real.”
