“He risked his life to hide us during the Kaduna crisis” — Lady remembers Muslim man who saved her Christian family

A lady has shared an emotional story about a Muslim man who protected her Christian family during a violent crisis in Kaduna State, risking his own safety to keep them alive.
The woman narrated the experience on social media, recalling how she was still a child when the deadly violence broke out in Kaduna.
According to her, a respected Hausa Muslim man sheltered her family inside his home despite not knowing them personally.
She explained that the man reportedly denied hiding Christians in his house when armed attackers arrived searching for victims.
Man protected strangers during violence
In her narration, the lady said the man put his own life at risk by lying to the attackers and swearing in the name of God to convince them nobody was hiding in his home.
“During the Kaduna massacre, a Hausa man, a respected Muslim who didn’t know us, kept me and my family hidden in his house. When the murderers came and asked if there were Christians there, he told them no one was there. He even said ‘Wallahi,’ betraying his faith and risking his own life just to keep us safe.”
Lady returns years later to honour hero
The lady explained that the memory remained with her throughout her life. She said she later returned to Kaduna as an adult to look for the man but discovered he had passed away before her visit.
The touching story has since drawn reactions online, with many Nigerians praising the late man’s courage and humanity beyond religion or ethnicity.
