Akeredolu directed the letter to Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State House Assembly.

The letter stated that the leave, which started on June 7, has been extended to July 6, 2023, due to the public holidays on June 12 (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir (June 28th and 29th, 2023).

The letter also read that Akeredolu, who had directed his Deputy, Hon.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to act as the Governor while away, has assured of his resumption on the 6th of July, 2023.

Recall that GistReel reported on Monday that there was tension amongst members of the Ondo State Executive Council over the Deputy Governor’s alleged attempt to challenge Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the governorship seat following rumours of his ill health.

With rumours of his demise making the rounds, particularly on social media, some individuals and groups engaged in power play to gain influence in politics and governance of the state.

It was gathered that Akeredolu was last seen in public on May 17, 2023, when he played host to the Ondo State Cocoa Council delegation led by its chairman, Dr. Olusegun Awolumate, at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.

Since then, Akeredolu has been missing at public events, a situation that further raised eyebrows among people, expressing concerns about the governor’s state of health.
