“You have been banned from performing in Edo” — Gov. Okpebholo’s aide threatens Davido

Apostle Kassy Chukwu, the Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on Digital Media, has publicly threatened Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

Chukwu made the remarks in a viral video while reacting to comments attributed to Davido concerning Governor Okpebholo and his children.

The governor’s aide accused the singer of disrespecting the governor and warned him against repeating what he described as offensive statements.

Chukwu announces alleged ban on Davido

In the video, Chukwu declared that Davido would no longer be welcomed in Edo State to perform.

He said, “I’m going to say, Shameful Davido, now you go ahead and start saying his children should be ashamed of their father. Now, I’m going to tell you now, the next time you’re going to repeat that statement, I’ll tell you something that will make you sue me.”

He further accused Davido of lacking respect for elders and claimed that the singer had been banned from performing in the state.

As your papa no bring up to respect your elders Davido, I want to tell you, you have been banned from coming to Edo state to perform,” he said.

Chukwu added that the state would not welcome Davido for the remaining years of the present administration.

We no want to see you for Edo again, Davido. Since you dey insult the governor children, dey insult the governor of the list state, the remaining 6 years plus for this government, we no want to see you,” he said.

Aide issues warning over singer’s possible return

Chukwu also issued a direct warning to Davido, alleging that youths in the state could confront him if he returned.

He said, “If we catch you, if we see you for airports, go tell boys make them use slap take remove your teeth for you.”

The statement has drawn attention because it appears to threaten physical violence against the singer.

Chukwu also criticised Davido’s associate, Israel DMW, whom he blamed for allegedly encouraging the singer to criticise the governor.

He described some of the results Davido had reportedly shared online as “AI-generated results” and warned the singer to be careful about repeating his comments.

Chukwu invokes Edo youths

The governor’s aide claimed that some Edo youths were angry over Davido’s alleged comments.

Not to say they don’t tell you, Hey, Edo youths are angry. They say, If they catch you again,” Chukwu said.

He also called on people not to invite Davido to perform in Edo State.

Nobody should bring Davido to come and perform in any place again in Edo state. They say, They don’t need you if you come,” he added.

Chukwu further warned Davido that he would be responsible for whatever happened if he returned to the state.

Calls for confrontation raise concerns

The remarks have sparked concerns because of the alleged threat of physical assault against a public figure.

Chukwu also accused Davido of associating with people he described as “courtists” and claimed that Governor Okpebholo does not tolerate such groups.

Davido, we don’t want to see you for Eso here again because the governor of this state, no dey Harbor Courtists. You hear me? So if you come, what you see? You go bear am,” he said.

He ended the video with another warning directed at the singer.
