“Why I went to my brother’s grave”- Reelected osun governor, Ademola Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has revealed why he visited his brother’s grave ahead of the election.

Ademola Adeleke Reflects On Brother’s Passing
During an interview with Channels TV, Ademola Adeleke opened up on the pain of losing his brother, Isiaka Adeleke bringing him to tears.
Speaking further, the governor disclosed that he visited his brother’s grave ahead of the election to seek his prayers and a psychological boost.
According to him, he visits his brother’s grave to share how deeply he misses him.
”i go to his grave and I would cry. Even before the election, I always go there for psychological boost“, He stated.
How Ademola Adeleke became Osun State Governor
It would be recalled that Ademola Adeleke contested the 2018 Osun governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was declared the winner initially, but INEC ruled the election inconclusive. After a rerun on September 27, 2018, his opponent Gboyega Oyetola of the APC was pronounced winner.
On July 16, 2022, he contested and defeated the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, with 403,371 votes, winning 17 LGAs.
Oyetola challenged the result, but the Court of Appeal and later the Supreme Court affirmed Adeleke’s victory.
On 16 August 2026, he was re-elected governor under the Accord Party. INEC declared him winner after polling 511,067 votes to defeat APC’s Bola Oyebamiji who got 444,815 votes.
