Videos of Chinese Supermarket in Abuja denying Nigerians entry to shop surfaces online

Videos of a Chinese supermarket in Abuja, imposing a discriminatory policy barring Nigerian citizens from entering and shopping within its premises have surfaced online.

The supermarket, known for its Chinese food and drinks, reportedly has a policy that only allows people of Chinese origin to enter, discriminating against Nigerians.

Many aggrieved individuals have taken to social media to share their unsettling encounters after attempting to visit the said establishment.

One Nigerian man recounted his experience, expressing disbelief as he was turned away at the entrance.

“They told me at the gate that the supermarket is strictly for Chinese people. You are a Nigerian, you can’t go inside, you can’t buy anything,” the man said.

To validate these claims, a correspondent from Punch, a well-known Nigerian news outlet, conducted an investigation by visiting the supermarket.

However, the correspondent was met with the same resistance and denied the opportunity to shop.

Security personnel stationed at the entrance confirmed the existence of the directive, purportedly issued by the management earlier in the year, yet provided no rationale behind its enforcement.

“We were not informed of any reason for the policy, but we have told them to remove all adverts from the Internet so that people would stop coming,” one of the security personnel said.
