“There was an ongoing road construction project” — Man discovers elder brother sold his ₦10m property for ₦100m

A man living in the United States has reportedly discovered that his elder brother secretly sold a shopping complex he bought for ₦10 million for ₦100 million.

According to the man’s account, he purchased the property during a visit to Nigeria in 2020 and left the documents with his elder brother before returning to the US.

The brother had reportedly been involved in the property transaction from the beginning, making the man trust him with the documents.

Brother claimed government planned to demolish property

The man said that around 2025, his elder brother called to inform him that an ongoing road construction project would lead to the demolition of the shopping complex.

He reportedly believed the explanation and felt helpless because the property was supposedly affected by a government road project.

However, when he returned to Nigeria this year, he drove past the property and noticed that there was no road construction.

Instead, he reportedly found a large eatery operating on the land.

Man confronts brother over ₦100m property sale

The man began making enquiries and allegedly discovered that his property had been sold to the eatery.

When he confronted his elder brother, the man reportedly admitted selling the property for ₦100 million.

The revelation meant that the property bought for ₦10 million had allegedly been sold for ten times its original purchase price without the owner’s consent.

The incident has sparked questions about trust within families, particularly when valuable property and financial responsibilities are placed in the hands of relatives.
