Naira to Dollar exchange rate today, Thursday, September 24, 2026

The naira recorded gains against the US dollar on Wednesday, with the local currency strengthening in both Nigeria’s official and parallel foreign exchange markets.

The latest figures showed the dollar falling to ₦1,328 at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) from ₦1,331 on Tuesday.

This represents a ₦3 gain for the naira in the official market, based on figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Parallel market records stronger naira

The local currency also performed better in the parallel market.

The dollar was quoted at approximately ₦1,375 on Wednesday, compared with ₦1,383 the previous day.

The movement translates to an ₦8 appreciation by the naira in the parallel market.

Following the latest adjustment, the difference between the NFEM and parallel-market rates stood at approximately ₦47 per dollar.

FX transactions jump by 181.5%

Meanwhile, activity at the official foreign exchange market increased considerably.

NFEM turnover rose from $99.2 million to $279.2 million, representing a 181.5 per cent increase during the period under review.

The higher turnover came as trading activity in the official market picked up.

Nigeria’s reserves hit $54.674bn

Nigeria’s foreign exchange position also remained substantial, with the country’s external reserves standing at $54.674 billion as of September 17.

The reserve position contributes to available foreign-exchange liquidity within the economy.

Rates differ across locations

Despite the published figures, the actual dollar rate available to customers can vary from one market to another.

Banks and Bureau de Change operators may quote different rates depending on location, transaction size and prevailing market conditions.

As of September 24, the latest confirmed figures put the dollar at approximately ₦1,328 at the NFEM and ₦1,375 in the parallel market.
