The US dollar is trading at ₦1,329.15 on the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), while parallel-market dealers are quoting about ₦1,380 to buy and ₦1,385 to sell the dollar on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

The rate, which is calculated as a volume-weighted average, represents the official exchange rate for that session.

Away from the official market, dollar transactions in the parallel market are taking place at different levels.

Aboki Forex’s latest update places the buying rate at approximately ₦1,380 per dollar, while the selling rate stands at about ₦1,385.

At the quoted selling price, anyone buying $100 would require roughly ₦138,500, while $1,000 would cost about ₦1.385 million, before considering any additional charges or differences applied by individual dealers.

On the other hand, someone selling $100 at the quoted parallel-market buying rate could receive around ₦138,000.

The parallel-market selling rate is currently ₦55.85 above the NFEM rate, while its buying rate is ₦50.85 higher than the official figure.

The difference between the two markets is significant for individuals and businesses that need US dollars for purposes such as overseas education, travel, imports, international payments and other foreign-exchange obligations.

However, the parallel market does not operate at a single uniform rate. Prices can change throughout the day and may vary according to the dealer, location, available dollar supply and the size of the transaction.

Aboki Forex says its parallel-market figures are updated regularly using rates obtained from dealers in major Nigerian cities.

For transactions carried out through banks and other authorised financial institutions, customers will be subject to the applicable rate provided by the institution and the prevailing official market conditions.
