The naira opened the new trading week at about ₦1,326.84 to the US dollar on Monday, September 14, 2026, with the official exchange rate remaining stronger than the parallel-market rate.

At the parallel market, the dollar was quoted at around ₦1,380 for buying and ₦1,390 for selling, keeping the informal-market rate close to where it stood at the end of last week.

Based on the current NFEM rate, the difference between the official rate of ₦1,326.84 and the parallel-market selling rate of ₦1,390 is approximately ₦63.16 per dollar.

For buyers in the parallel market, purchasing $100 at the prevailing selling rate would cost about ₦139,000, while $1,000 would require approximately ₦1.39 million.

Meanwhile, anyone selling $100 at the parallel-market buying rate of ₦1,380 would receive about ₦138,000.

The naira has maintained relative stability in recent trading sessions, with official NFEM rates largely staying within the ₦1,320–₦1,330 range, while parallel-market quotations have remained around ₦1,390.

The movement of the naira continues to be influenced by dollar liquidity and conditions in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market, alongside measures by the Central Bank of Nigeria aimed at improving stability.

While the NFEM rate reflects transactions within the regulated foreign exchange market, parallel-market prices are largely shaped by demand and supply among Bureau de Change operators and other informal dealers.

Going into the new week, market watchers are expected to monitor foreign exchange liquidity, crude oil earnings, external reserves, diaspora remittances and foreign investment inflows for their potential impact on the naira.

Monetary policy decisions and developments in official NFEM trading will also remain important factors as investors and businesses assess whether the naira can maintain its recent stability against the dollar.
