My episode of dating short men is over – Lady declares
A tall Nigerian woman has stirred reactions online after announcing that she is no longer interested in dating shorter men.
Sharing her experience, she recounted meeting a man she had been talking to, only for him to admit feeling intimidated by their height difference when they met in person.
According to her, he expressed discomfort and insecurity, saying it affected his confidence.
She noted that she has often tried to downplay her height in past situations to make others feel comfortable, but has now decided to stop doing so.
Following the encounter, she stated that she intends to focus on dating taller men moving forward, a remark that has since generated mixed reactions on social media.
Her words in part …
“My episode of dating short men is over. We met through a mutual friend. Yeah, we met through a mutual friend. We started talking and conversation was cool. It was really good, I won’t lie. So I asked him, I was like, how tall are you? And then he was like, nah, don’t worry, I’m sure I’m taller than you. I’m like, taller than who? Are you whining?
I told him I’m really really tall like 6’3 so I know you’re not taller than me, except you are 6’4. He was like he was 5’10. So he said he didn’t have any issue with the height thing.
Two days later we go to meet ourselves. He was already waiting when I walked into the restaurant, he was just staring at me like, you know this look of ‘Jesus!’.
So, I got to the table, we exchange pleasantries and… He was like, I can’t even stand up to hug you. I’m like, why can’t she stand up to Orge? Is there a problem? And he said, nah, he’s feeling very intimidated already. That he felt he was going to be cool with it. But the height difference of a thing is doing something to his ego as a man, his pride as a man. The he feels insecure.
I told him I respected his opinion and how he feels, he wanted me to stay back, but I left after that.
I just noticed that I’ve always had this, I’ve always subconsciously done it. Like, I would try to accommodate people that I’m taller than. Like, just to make them not feel insecure around me. Like, don’t worry, don’t worry, it’s fine. Even though I’m taller than you, don’t worry, I won’t bite you. But I’m done, I’m done, I’m done doing that. I’m not even doing that nonsense anymore.
