Medical doctor passes away after giving birth to triplets in Bayelsa hospital

A medical doctor, Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, has died following complications after giving birth to triplets in Bayelsa State.
The incident occurred after she delivered the babies at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri, in Yenagoa.
Complications After Delivery
Dr. Ogbachi, an obstetrician and gynecologist, reportedly developed complications shortly after childbirth.
She was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where she was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Despite efforts by medical experts and specialists, she passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Family Confirms Her Passing
The news of her death was confirmed by her brother, Meshack Sintei, in a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, April 15.
He gave details of the events leading to her passing and described the family’s final moments with her.
Desperate Fight to Save Her Life
According to him, doctors made continuous efforts to stabilize her condition after she was moved to the ICU, but her oxygen levels continued to drop despite medical intervention, falling from 70 to 50 and eventually reaching zero.
She was reportedly confirmed dead at exactly 2:45 a.m. on April 14.
A wife, mother and doctor
Dr. Ogbachi was not only a medical professional but also a wife and a new mother to the triplets she delivered before her condition worsened.
She was a registrar at NDUTH and a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, as well as an alumna of Niger Delta University.
