A lady has sparked reactions online after recounting an awkward incident that occurred during a date when she mistakenly assumed her companion had abandoned her at a restaurant.

According to her account, the misunderstanding began after the man informed her that he was not hungry and would not be ordering food at the time.

As a result, she became the only person at the table to place an order while they continued spending time together.

Fear of being abandoned

The lady explained that the situation took an unexpected turn when the man suddenly stood up and said he wanted to use the toilet.

She said his departure immediately raised concerns because she had previously come across stories on social media about people abandoning their dates and leaving them with restaurant bills.

Believing he might not return, she decided to settle her bill immediately and requested that her meal be packaged for takeaway.

When the man eventually returned, he was surprised to find her food already packed and prepared for departure.

Public confrontation follows misunderstanding

The lady then explained why she had packed the meal.

“I told him I thought he wasn’t coming back.”

According to her, the explanation offended the man, who questioned why she would assume he intended to leave.

The misunderstanding escalated when he reacted loudly in the restaurant.

“Me run away because of 30k food?? Are you mad???”

She said the outburst immediately attracted attention from other diners, leaving her embarrassed as people turned to look at them.
