Ligue 1: Folarin Balogun set to be denied role at Monaco

AS Monaco manager Adi Hütter has hinted at a potential change in penalty takers following Folarin Balogun‘s fourth miss of the season.

Balogun who joined Monaco from Arsenal, has had a mixed season but recently found form, scoring his fifth goal against RC Lens.

Despite his goal-scoring efforts, Balogun’s penalty-taking has raised concerns at the club.

His latest miss came last weekend in Monaco’s 3-2 win over RC Lens, where he had a solid performance, including a well-taken goal, but a well-taken penalty.

The miss adds to previous crucial penalties he has failed to convert, including two against OGC Nice and one against FC Rouen.

The 22-year-old inability to convert from the spot in both games, had a significant impact on their results, as they ended up losing, including being knocked out of a favourable tie in the Coupe de France.

Meanwhile, his boss Hütter has acknowledged the issue, stating, “He’s missed four penalties this season, that’s a lot.

“I take responsibility for this, maybe we’ll think about the order of shooters in the future. But I’m otherwise very satisfied with his performance,” he added.
