La Liga: Xavi optimistic about Barcelona’s title chances after thumping Getafe 4-0

Barcelona continued with their recent form, picking a 4-0 win over Getafe, to climb second place in the Spanish La Liga.

The win, combined with Girona’s slip-up, has revived resurgence under Xavi Hernandez‘s men hopes of challenging for the title.

Speaking after the match, Xavi expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, pointing at their ability to exploit spaces and match Getafe’s intensity.

He emphasized the importance of consistency in the remaining twelve games, reaffirming that Barcelona will continue fighting for every point.

“We knew how to go into space many times and that’s where the goals came from. We matched their intensity.

“We’ve been very good. It was a convincing game from the team. We have surprised them. I’m satisfied with the team’s performance. The victory gives us calm,” Xavi added.

Barcelona’s recent run of form has seen them close the gap on Real Madrid to five points, having played a game more.

The Catalans face a tough test next weekend as they travel to San Mames to take on Athletic Club.
