‘I’d like to stay’ – Marcus Rashford sends strong message over Barcelona future after title triumph

Marcus Rashford has admitted he would love to remain at Barcelona beyond this season as the club prepare to decide whether to make his move permanent from Manchester United.

With Barcelona having secured the La Liga title, attention is now expected to shift towards transfer business, with Rashford’s future among the club’s major priorities.

The England international joined the Catalan side on loan and has impressed under Hansi Flick during their successful campaign.

Barcelona reportedly hold a €30 million option to sign Rashford permanently, although the Spanish champions are hoping to negotiate a lower fee. Manchester United are currently unwilling to reduce their demands, leaving the forward’s future uncertain.

Speaking about his situation, Rashford made it clear he wants to continue at Camp Nou.

“I don’t know what will happen. I’m not a magician, but if I were, I’d stay,” Rashford said.

“I came here to win. I want to win as many things as possible, and this is another title. This team is a great team, and they will get better and better in the future. To be a part of that would be something special.”

Rashford reflects on stunning El Clasico free-kick

Rashford played a decisive role in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Real Madrid on Sunday, scoring a brilliant free-kick in El Clasico to help seal the title.

However, the 28-year-old revealed he initially had no intention of shooting from the set-piece.

“I didn’t intend to shoot,” he admitted.

“When I placed the ball, I didn’t see the right angle and I wasn’t confident it would be a goal. I intended to cross it, but everyone was shouting at me to shoot, and that gave me more confidence.”

“It was a beautiful goal.”

Decision now rests with Barcelona

Barcelona manager Flick is expected to have the final say on whether Rashford remains at the club next season.

The forward’s performances, coupled with his clear desire to stay, have strengthened his case, although negotiations with Manchester United could still prove complicated during the summer transfer window.
