“I stirred her soup too — and that ended our friendship” — lady recounts fallout over food

A woman has sparked widespread reactions online after narrating how a long-standing friendship ended over what many described as a “petty but revealing” incident involving food.
Friendship tension over food habits
The story, shared on social media earlier this week, detailed how repeated disagreements over boundaries during visits eventually escalated into a final confrontation.
According to the woman, her friend had a habit of picking the choicest pieces of meat whenever she visited, a behavior that often caused tension between them.
“Whenever she comes to my house, I allow her to serve herself. She would stir my soup to pick the choicest protein. And each time I complained, she would say sebi I don’t have anyone else who’s coming to eat the soup, and I should feel lucky she’s with me to eat it,” she said.
Visit sparks retaliation and fallout
The situation reached a breaking point when the narrator visited her friend, who is now married, and decided to mirror the same behavior.
She recounted deliberately serving herself generously from a pot of egusi soup prepared for her friend’s husband, selecting multiple pieces of meat despite not liking the meal.
The action reportedly angered her friend and led to an abrupt end to their relationship.
“So one day I visited her… I made sure I stirred it to pick three choicest meats. She got angry and I did not apologise for it. Sebi, it’s just her husband. He’ll understand,” she added.
