“I lost my virginity at 16 to break my father’s record” — Femi Kuti’s son

Ayo Kuti, the son of renowned Nigerian Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti, has become the subject of widespread online discourse following a series of personal revelations made during a recent livestream appearance with media personality Davreal.
During the broadcast, Ayo discussed the circumstances surrounding his decision to become sexually active at the age of 16.
He directly attributed this choice to a prior conversation with his father regarding the age at which Femi Kuti himself lost his virginity.
Ayo explained that learning his father was 17 at the time served as motivation to do so earlier.
“The only reason I lost my virginity at 16 is because my dad told me that he lost his at 17. So I said, okay, I have to be number one in my family. Cos you have to know say e dey shake, e dey break. My dad is a bad boy,” Ayo stated.
In addition to comments about his own personal life, Ayo made further claims concerning his parents’ domestic arrangements.
He alleged that his mother and father do not share a bed, and cited concerns related to sexually transmitted diseases as the reason.
“My parents do not also sleep on the same bed because of STDs. We don’t do that in our house,” he remarked during the livestream.
The statements have since circulated extensively across social media platforms, including X, Instagram, and TikTok, prompting varied public reactions.
While some commentators criticized the disclosure of private family matters, others interpreted the remarks as consistent with the Kuti family’s historically outspoken public image.
As of Tuesday, April 28, 2026, there has been no official response from Femi Kuti or other members of the Kuti family regarding Ayo’s statements.
The incident continues to generate significant engagement and debate among the Nigerian public and international observers of the family’s legacy.
