Gordon reveals what surprised him most about Barcelona
Anthony Gordon has admitted he was surprised by how quickly Barcelona supporters embraced him after his move from Newcastle, with the England winger describing the Catalan giants as “the best club in the world.”
Gordon became Barcelona’s first signing of the 2026-27 season and has quickly settled into the club’s style of football. Although he has made only eight appearances so far, he has already registered five assists.

Speaking in Barcelona’s October magazine, Gordon said the reception from supporters exceeded his expectations, particularly given the legendary players they have watched over the years.
“These fans admire Messi, Luis Suarez and Ronaldinho, and many of the best players in history. I did not expect to feel such appreciation from the very start,” he said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

The winger believes the fans have apprecia[ted his willingness .
“I have made many dribbles throughout my career without anyone seeing them, but now I have Pedri, who sees everything,” he said.
For Gordon, the biggest surprise has not simply been Barcelona’s footballing quality but the humility within the squad.
“It is the best club in the world, with some of the best players, but everyone is extremely humble,” he said.
He added that the team remains ambitious and wants to win everything while maintaining the possession-based philosophy that has long defined Barcelona.
