The victory came with its share of controversy, as there were debates around a disallowed goal by Gabriel Martinelli in the first half.

However, Arsenal have a challenging task ahead with just over 48 hours left until their highly long-awaited return to the Champions League.

Their slow performance didn’t go unnoticed in the Everton game, but it was Leandro Trossard’s 70th-minute strike that separated the team.

The argument about Martinelli’s goal happened 19 minutes into the game but was ruled out.

The Brazilian winger had displayed tidy finishing after receiving a pass from Fabio Vieira, but the debate arose when Vieira collected the ball from Eddie Nketiah, who was returning from an offside position.

Nketiah had involuntarily received a pass from Everton forward Beto, who was attempting to close down Arsenal defender Gabriel.

VAR determined that Beto’s pass was accidental, leading to Nketiah’s offside position. Although the decision was technically correct, it ignited discussions.

Despite the controversy, Arsenal managed to seal the victory, thanks to Belgian star Leandro Trossard.

Heading towards the last quarter of the game, Trossard collected a cutback pass from Bukayo Saka inside the box, positioned himself, and unleashed a left-footed shot across the face of the goal, finding the net, to guarantee Arsenal ended the match with all three points.
