EPL: Doku’s late strike rescues Manchester City at Everton

Jeremy Doku scored twice, including a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser, as Manchester City salvaged a draw in a six-goal Premier League thriller against Everton.

The result leaves City trailing league leaders Arsenal by five points, dealing a setback to their title ambitions despite holding a game in hand.

Doku delivers first-half spark

City dominated possession early on but struggled to break down a disciplined Everton side.

The breakthrough came just before half-time when Doku produced a moment of quality, cutting inside and curling a powerful effort into the top corner.

It was a crucial intervention in a half where clear chances were limited despite City’s control.

Everton turn game around

The hosts responded strongly after the break and capitalised on defensive lapses. Thierno Barry levelled the score after reacting quickest to a loose backpass involving Marc Guehi and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The game shifted further when Jake O’Brien headed Everton in front from a corner delivered by James Garner.

Barry then added his second, finishing off a well-worked move involving Merlin Rohl to put Everton in control.

Late drama reshapes title race

City mounted a late response through Erling Haaland, who reduced the deficit with seven minutes remaining.

With the game heading towards a home victory, Doku struck again deep into stoppage time, delivering a precise finish to secure a point.

While the draw keeps City in contention, the title race is now in Arsenal’s control, who now hold a decisive advantage in the run-in.
