Deadline day: US int’l Folarin Balogun set for Everton medical from Monaco
Everton have reached an agreement with Monaco to sign United States striker Folarin Balogun, with medical planned before the transfer deadline.
The Premier League club have agreed a deal worth around €45 million (£38.6m), with a further €5m potentially payable in add-ons.

Everton close in on new striker
Everton have been searching for another forward as Beto prepares to leave the club for Fiorentina after undergoing a medical on Monday.
His departure would leave Thierno Barry as Everton’s only recognised striker, increasing the need for manager David Moyes to strengthen his attacking options before the window closes.
Balogun has two years remaining on his Monaco contract but was expected to leave the French club this summer after no talks took place over an extension.
The American joined Monaco from Arsenal in 2023 in a deal worth an initial €30m, with a further €10m potentially due in add-ons.
Balogun arrives after strong season
Balogun enjoyed his most productive campaign for Monaco last season, scoring 19 goals and providing five assists in 43 appearances after an injury-hit 2024-25 season.
His form also carried into the summer, with the striker scoring three goals in four appearances for the United States at the World Cup.
Balogun was sent off during the Americans’ round-of-32 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina but was subsequently available for their last-16 defeat by Belgium after FIFA suspended his one-match ban.
The striker began his career at Arsenal, progressing through the club’s academy and making 10 senior appearances.
He established himself in Ligue 1 during a loan spell at Reims in the 2022-23 season, scoring 22 goals in 39 appearances before securing his permanent move to Monaco.
