Cousin responds after being dragged for serving moi moi instead of jollof rice after collecting N450k

The cousin of a new mum who recently accused her of serving moi moi instead of the jollof rice she allegedly paid for at her son’s naming ceremony has broken her silence.
In a lengthy response shared online, the woman denied several of the claims made against her and explained what she said really happened.
Cousin denies using all four chickens
According to her, she only used one chicken in preparing the dish.
She wrote:
“I normally do not engage in back-and-forth with people who clearly don’t understand what they’re talking about, but let me clear this up once.
“I never said I used all four chickens for the moin moin. What I said was that I cooked and blended one chicken into it. That’s completely different.”
“Food plan changed” – Cousin alleges
The woman also claimed that the original agreement was for her to prepare moi moi, adding that the plan was later changed to jollof rice.
However, she said she did not see the follow-up message informing her of the change, which was why she proceeded with making the moi moi.
“Secondly, we initially agreed on moin moin. It was only later that the plan changed to rice, and I honestly didn’t see that follow-up message. That’s exactly why I made the moin moin. I already apologized yesterday, both to her and to her husband, for missing the second message. What else was I supposed to do?”
Cousin speaks on eggs and payment
Addressing criticism about the contents of the moi moi, the cousin said some pieces contained eggs while others did not because the budget was insufficient to include eggs in all of them.
She also claimed she was paid ₦450,000 and did not charge any professional catering fee because they were relatives.
“If you look closely at the moin moin, you’ll see some have eggs while some don’t. Why? Because the money wasn’t enough to put eggs in every single one. I simply worked with the budget I was given.
“She paid me ₦450,000, yet I didn’t charge her my catering fee. Out of sisterhood, I didn’t bill her for my service because I know what I normally charge. Instead of appreciating that, I’m being dragged on a public platform.”
“Public call-out was unnecessary” – Cousin says
The woman also criticised those judging the food based on photographs, arguing that image quality did not reflect the quality of the meal.
She further expressed disappointment over being publicly called out, saying she had done a lot for her cousin and did not deserve the treatment.
She added that even the woman’s husband reportedly questioned why the issue was taken to social media.
“And please, let’s stop acting like camera quality determines food quality. If that same moin moin was snapped with an iPhone instead of a Tecno phone, some of you would suddenly start calling it ‘premium.’
“I honestly think it’s best she leaves my name out of her mouth. I’ve done far too much for her to deserve this kind of public embarrassment.
“I never expected this public call out. Even her husband that gave the money to her said it’s okay. Why bring me out in public?”
