“Make I no hear anyone blame Tinubu” – Lady blames Nigerians for Uber’s exit from the country
A Nigerian lady has reacted to the exit of ride-hailing company Uber from Nigeria, blaming the development on Nigerians rather than the government.

‘It Was You Nigerians That Chased Uber’
In a video shared online, the lady said Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu or the government for the company’s departure.
“So Uber is about to leave Nigeria. Make I no hear anyone blame the government or Tinubu for their exit. It wasn’t the government/Tinubu that sent Uber away or that made Uber leave the country. It was you Nigerians that chase them,” she said.
She said she found it difficult to understand how the company continued making money in Nigeria, adding that the conduct of some drivers and Nigerians contributed to the problems experienced by the platform.
“Even sometimes I think how this company is making money. But, I know that they will still make their money just that Nigerians are more crazy than them,” she stated.
Lady Accuses Some Drivers of Seeking Offline Payments
The lady also criticised some Uber drivers, alleging that they sometimes tried to take passengers off the platform and demand fares higher than those displayed on the app.
“It’s the same person you see on Uber, you will see on other apps, Bolt, In-drive and others. Especially those that drive on long trips. They will be looking for offline all around,” she said.
She gave an example of a trip that could be displayed as ₦10,000 on the app, while the driver allegedly asks the passenger to pay ₦20,000 instead.
“The app can show N10k and the driver will ask you to pay 20k,” she alleged.
‘Uber Is Cheap’
The lady said she considered Uber relatively affordable compared with other ride-hailing services, although she acknowledged that inDrive could sometimes offer cheaper fares.
“Do you know that Uber is actually cheaper than other apps but, it seems in-drive is slightly cheaper but, I use uber very well. Uber is cheap if you don’t know,” she said.
She also praised the professionalism she associated with Uber drivers while operating through the platform.
“It pains me because I really enjoy uber. Their drivers, when they are on uber app, they appear to be professional more than other apps. Those ones are not strict,” she stated.
‘The Government Have No Hand in It’
The lady maintained that the government’s policies were not responsible for Uber’s departure and insisted that Nigerians should take responsibility.
“It was you people that chase uber out of the country, the government have no hand in it,” she said.
Uber, however, has publicly attributed its exit to a review of its business priorities and investment focus, rather than specifically blaming Nigerian customers or drivers.
The company has also said its decision was limited to Nigeria and Uganda and does not represent a withdrawal from Sub-Saharan Africa.
The lady’s comments have since sparked reactions online, with social media users sharing different views on her opinion about Uber’s exit from Nigeria.
