Chandler Parsons’ collegiate career began when he was awarded an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida, where he competed for the Gators’ men’s basketball team.

He scored an average of 8.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He averaged 12.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in his third season. The Gators advanced to the NCAA Tournament but fell in the first round.

His performance during the 2010–11 season was the greatest of his college career. He was also selected as the 2011 SEC Player of the Year, becoming the first Florida Gator to receive that accolade.

Born in Casselberry, Florida, on October 25, 1988, Chandler Evan Parsons attended Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Florida, where he was classmates with Nick Calathes, a future Florida Gator.

The Lake Howell Silverhawks high school basketball team qualified for the Florida Class 5A state basketball championship final four in 2005, 2006, and 2007 with the assistance of Parsons and Calathes. In 2007, the team won the state championship.

As a senior, Parsons earned a first-team all-state pick and was named the most valuable player in the state championship game after scoring thirty points and grabbing ten rebounds.
