Boniface misses out on N56 billion after failed Al-Nassr move

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface lost out on a €36 million (N56 billion) deal after his proposed transfer to Al-Nassr collapsed in January.

Recall the Bayer Leverkusen forward had been in talks with the Saudi Arabian club, with reports indicating he had agreed to the move.

However, the deal fell through at the last moment, and Al-Nassr signed Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán instead.

According to German newspaper Welt, Boniface was set to earn €45 million (N70 billion) over three years if the transfer had gone through.

Leverkusen are now preparing to offer the Nigerian striker a contract extension until 2029, with his annual salary expected to double from €3 million to €6 million.

Over the next three years, he is projected to earn €9 million, significantly lower than what he would have received in Saudi Arabia.
