“As a Nigerian, dating in UK will humble you” — Man shares experience with Ghanaian lady
A UK-based Nigerian man has shared his experience on a dating app after a woman he matched with allegedly unmatched him shortly after learning that he was Nigerian.
The man said the incident left him surprised and prompted him to reflect on the challenges Nigerians may face while dating in the United Kingdom.

Man recounts how Bumble match disappeared
According to the man, he was matched with a black woman on Bumble and began chatting with her.
He said he asked where she was from, and she told him she was Ghanaian but had been born and raised in the UK.
The conversation reportedly continued until she asked him about his own background.
Recounting the encounter, the man said:
“As a Nigerian, dating in the UK will humble you.”
He explained that he told the woman he was Nigerian and had only lived in the UK for three years.
According to him, she immediately unmatched him after he disclosed his nationality.
He described his reaction to the sudden disappearance of the match, saying:
“She unmatched me.”
The man added:
“Bro, like the thing do me like say rapture don happen, the way her contact disappeared.”
He then questioned whether his nationality had played a role in the woman’s decision.
“Nigerians wetin, wetin, oh God.”
Nigerians react to his experience
The man’s experience sparked mixed reactions online, with some users suggesting that the woman may have had previous experiences that influenced her decision.

Damilola, however, offered a different perspective, questioning some Nigerians’ expectations when dating foreigners.
