Adebayo, Ogbene: Nigerian starlets shine in Luton’s 4-0 win against Brighton

Luton Town breezed past Brighton in a stunning 4-0 home win, propelled by a hat-trick from forward Elijah Adebayo.

The home side wasted no time in taking control of the game, with the Nigeria-born English player Adebayo opening the scoring just 18 seconds into the match, heading in Carlton Morris’ knockdown.

Luton doubled their lead shortly after when another Nigerian, Chiedozie Ogbene capitalized on a defensive lapse from Brighton to beat the goalkeeper.

Adebayo, 26, continued his stellar performance, scoring his second goal late in the first half after a well-timed run onto Ross Barkley’s pass.

Although Jordan Clark’s goal was ruled offside early in the second half, Adebayo completed his hat-trick with a header from Alfie Doughty’s corner.

The victory was significant for Luton, particularly as it lifted them above Everton and out of the relegation zone.

Brighton, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing defeat, dropping to eighth place in the Premier League standings.

Adebayo was born in England January 7, 1998, and is of Nigerian descent. His father is reportedly from Remo Ogun state.

Similarly, Ogbene. 26, was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and later moved with his family, including his siblings (two brothers and two sisters) to Ireland in 2005, where he pledged allegiance with the country’s national team.
