2028 OlympicsQ: Eguavoen backs Falcons replacements to deliver against Comoros

Super Falcons interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen is confident the absence of several key players will not affect Nigeria’s chances against Comoros in their 2028 Olympic Games qualifier.
The record African champions are preparing for the two-legged encounter, with both matches set to take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.

Nigeria will enter the tie without several established players, including Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre, Oluwatosin Demehin and Flourish Sabastine.
Despite the withdrawals, Eguavoen believes the players brought into the squad have enough quality and experience to fill the gaps.

Eguavoen trusts Nigeria’s replacements
The interim coach acknowledged the significance of the absences but insisted they would not derail the Falcons’ preparations.
“It is true that we have a number of withdrawals, notably Asisat Oshoala, Ashley Plumptre and Oluwatosin Demehin,” Eguavoen said, according to thenff.com.
“However, I have confidence in their replacements as these ones also have the quality and experience to contribute meaningfully to the team’s success against Comoros.”
The Falcons will therefore look to their replacements to step up as Nigeria begins its latest attempt to secure a place at the 2028 Olympic Games.
The withdrawals leave Eguavoen with important decisions to make, particularly given the experience and international pedigree of some of the unavailable players.
