2027: Okpebholo says Peter Obi can’t win Edo again, blames past victory on previous administration

The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has claimed that Peter Obi only won the state in the 2023 presidential election due to the failure of the previous administration.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television on Thursday, Okpebholo stated that Obi does not have the capacity to win Edo State again in the 2027 election.

“Peter Obi defeated (Tinubu) last time because the governor was not working. The governor then was not working,” he said.

The governor also reaffirmed his earlier promise to deliver 2.5 million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election, expressing confidence in growing public support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He dismissed concerns about the feasibility of his projection, insisting that the level of support on the streets would reflect in the ballot outcome.

“We were on the street. Nobody told them we were coming. People were leaving their houses. And that is the vote. That’s how the vote is going to translate,” he added.

Okpebholo maintained that with improved governance and increasing support for the APC, the party is well positioned to secure a stronger victory in Edo State come 2027.
