“My salary is N503,000” — Governor Oborevwori reveals what he earns monthly
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has revealed that he earns a monthly salary of N503,000, while the state’s Permanent Secretaries now receive N900,000.
Oborevwori made the disclosure on Thursday, August 20, while speaking in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The governor explained that the salaries of Permanent Secretaries were increased after they raised concerns that some directors were earning almost the same amount as them.
Governor explains salary increase
Speaking about the new remuneration structure, Oborevwori said, “When the Permanent Secretaries said most of the Directors are receiving almost the same thing with them, we increased their money.”
He further disclosed that his monthly salary as governor is N503,000, placing it below the current pay of Permanent Secretaries.
The governor also revealed that the state’s Head of Service receives a monthly salary of N1 million.
Oborevwori said, “Today, Permanent Secretaries… Your salary is 900, my salary is 503,000, Governor’s salary. Head of Service is one million.”
Salary disclosure sparks interest
The disclosure has drawn attention to the difference between the governor’s stated monthly salary and the remuneration of senior civil servants in Delta State.
Oborevwori also made a light-hearted remark about some employees keeping their earnings private from their spouses, saying, “It’s clear. So, you know some of them don’t want their husbands to know how much they are receiving.”
The governor’s comments have since generated interest in the salaries and remuneration of public officials in the state.
