Zinedine Zidane rejects offer to manage Algeria national team

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has reportedly rejected offer to manage Algeria national football team.

Despite his Algerian roots, Zidane is said to have chosen to pursue other opportunities.

Recall Algeria recently parted ways with their coach Djamel Belmadi after their early exit from AFCON 2023.

The decision came as a surprise, especially since Belmadi had just extended his contract in January.

The controversy surrounding Belmadi’s departure has led to FIFA launching an investigation into his severance package from the Algerian FA.

According to reports from French L’Equipe, Zidane was Algeria’s top choice to replace Belmadi. However, the 51-year-old tactician declined the offer.

Zidane seems to be holding out for a club role and has previously rejected offers from national teams like Brazil and the USA.

Since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane has been without a managerial position, with speculations suggesting he is eyeing a Serie A job.
