“Vice President Shettima, your people are dying every day” — VeryDarkMan slams government over Borno killings

Nigerian social media personality VeryDarkMan has criticised Vice President Kashim Shettima over the continued killings and kidnappings in Borno State.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the activist accused the government of failing to protect citizens despite repeated attacks allegedly carried out by terrorists in the state.

Growing insecurity concerns

Reacting to reports that suspected terrorists abducted more than 100 women and children in Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area, VeryDarkMan questioned what the Vice President had done to address the insecurity.

Vice President Shettima, you are from Borno State, yet every day your people are being killed and nothing is being done,” he said in the video.

According to him, the ongoing attacks have become so frequent that many Nigerians no longer react strongly to such news.

He argued that the normalisation of violence has led to reduced public engagement whenever reports of killings emerge.

Criticism over leadership

The social media critic also questioned the political ambitions of leaders seeking re-election despite persistent insecurity challenges.

He noted that Shettima previously served as governor of Borno State and should therefore understand the severity of the crisis affecting the region.

VeryDarkMan further criticised government programmes that focus on rehabilitating captured insurgents, arguing that authorities should prioritise protecting innocent civilians.

Public reactions online

The video has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians supporting his concerns about insecurity, while others criticised his tone towards political leaders.

The comments come amid ongoing national discussions about security challenges affecting several parts of the country.
