“This one means a lot” – Usor thanks fans after Super Eagles debut goal
Moses Usor has celebrated a dream start to his Super Eagles career after scoring the winning goal on his Nigeria debut against Madagascar.
The LASK forward came off the bench to make his first appearance for the national team and needed only four minutes to make a decisive impact in the 2-1 victory.

Madagascar had taken the lead in Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo before the Super Eagles fought back.
Usor makes instant impact
Introduced in the 61st minute, Usor collected the ball inside Nigeria’s half before embarking on a solo run towards the Madagascar penalty area.
The 24-year-old showed composure inside the box, finishing at the near post to complete Nigeria’s comeback and give Eric Chelle’s side all three points.
Usor later took to Instagram to reflect on the occasion and thank those who supported him.
“What a moment! Grateful for my scoring debut and for the trust and support from the coaching staff, my teammates, and the fans. This one means a lot!” Usor wrote.
LASK forward continues strong form
The goal also extended what has been an encouraging start to the season for Usor, who has registered three goals and five assists in 12 appearances for LASK.
His form follows an impressive 2025/26 campaign in Austria, where he recorded 15 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances.
Usor was part of the LASK side that secured the domestic double last season, their first such achievement since 1965.
The Nigerian forward will now hope for another opportunity when the Super Eagles face Guinea-Bissau in their second Group L fixture on Tuesday, September 29.
Nigeria will travel to Bissau looking to build on their opening victory over Madagascar as they continue their pursuit of qualification for the 2027 AFCON.
