Super Eagles star Nathan Tella extends Leverkusen contract until 2031

Nathan Tella has signed a new long-term contract with Bayer Leverkusen, extending his stay at the Bundesliga club until June 2031.
The deal was confirmed by the club on Tuesday, underlining their confidence in the winger’s long-term role within the squad.
Club shows long-term trust
Tella, who joined Leverkusen from Southampton in 2023, has developed into a key player. His previous contract was due to run until 2028, but the club opted to secure his future earlier than planned.
The extension reflects Leverkusen’s commitment to retaining core players as they continue to compete at the highest level.

Injury setback and return
The 26-year-old endured a disrupted 2025/26 campaign due to a knee injury sustained in September, which kept him out for several months.
He has since returned to training, with the coaching staff managing his workload carefully as he regains full fitness.
Tella’s availability is expected to provide an important boost during a crucial phase of the season.
Known for his pace, the Nigeria international offers multiple attacking options, capable of playing in wide areas and across the frontline, contributing to the team’s tactical flexibility.
