Serie A: Verona condemn Gift Orban after going physical with fan

Hellas Verona have issued a formal statement condemning the conduct of Gift Orban following a physical altercation with a supporter after their Serie A defeat to AC Milan.
The incident occurred in the parking area outside the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi shortly after Verona’s 1-0 loss, which extended their poor run of form.
Club responds to off-field incident
According to reports, the confrontation began when Orban declined a fan’s request for a photograph while leaving the stadium.
The situation escalated after the supporter allegedly struck the player’s car, prompting the striker to exit the vehicle and engage physically before club staff intervened.

In a statement, Verona distanced themselves from the incident.
“With reference to the incidents that took place after the Hellas Verona v Milan match… the club firmly dissociates itself from and condemns any form of violent conduct.
“The club will continue to gather and assess relevant information.”
Pressure mounts amid poor results
The event comes during a difficult period for Verona, who have lost eight of their last nine league matches and remain deep in the relegation zone.
Despite the team’s struggles, Orban has been a key contributor, scoring seven goals in 28 Serie A appearances since joining on loan from TSG Hoffenheim.
Uncertain future as investigation continues
The club has confirmed that an internal review is ongoing, with further updates expected once assessments are complete.
The incident could impact Orban’s long-term future at Verona, particularly with the club facing likely relegation to Serie B.
Attention now shifts to their upcoming fixture against Lecce as they attempt to salvage their season.
