‘Saw some things I didn’t like’ – Lautaro Martinez reacts after Inter Scudetto victory

Lautaro Martinez has admitted Inter Milan needed “a change” despite securing their 21st Serie A title, reflecting on tensions earlier in the season.

Inter sealed the Scudetto with a 2-0 victory over Parma, surpassing the point they needed to confirm the title. Goals from Marcus Thuram and Henrikh Mkhitaryan ensured a decisive finish, with Martinez providing the assist for the second.

Lautaro stands by earlier criticism

The Argentine striker addressed comments he made during a turbulent period following a trophyless campaign and managerial change.

“What I said at that moment was what I felt and had been holding inside me. I didn’t plan it, I just saw some things I didn’t like, and I say what I think,” Martinez said.

His remarks had previously been directed at internal issues in the team, including concerns about commitment within the squad.

Chivu impact after Inzaghi exit

The arrival of Cristian Chivu, who replaced Simone Inzaghi, proved crucial in Inter’s resurgence.

“The coach did so well bringing fresh energy, enthusiasm… perhaps we needed a change of scenery,” Martinez added. “Chivu made sure everyone felt involved and could even train with a smile.”

Inter’s title success also marked the first time in 37 years they secured the Scudetto at San Siro.

Focus shifts to more silverware

Despite clinching the league, Martinez insists the squad remains driven. “We must continue along this path, because the most important thing after winning is to keep trying to do better,” he said.

Inter now turn attention to the Coppa Italia final against Lazio, with the opportunity to complete a domestic double.
