Postecoglou set for Nottingham Forest appointment after rejecting Fenerbahce

Ange Postecoglou is expected to be named Nottingham Forest’s new manager following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Tottenham boss, who led Spurs to Europa League success last season, has emerged as the top choice of Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Postecoglou’s attacking style is understood to fit the direction the club wants to pursue.

The Australian coach recently turned down an approach from Fenerbahce, who parted ways with Jose Mourinho after their Champions League elimination.

Forest confirmed Nuno’s departure on Monday after weeks of speculation.

The Portuguese manager had been in charge since December 2023, guiding the club to safety in his first season and securing a seventh-place finish last term, their best in three decades, along with Europa League qualification.

Postecoglou could be formally announced as manager as early as today, according to talkSPORT, with Forest preparing for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.

Other names linked with the role included Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, and Fulham’s Marco Silva, though Postecoglou has now emerged as the clear frontrunner.

Forest will begin their Europa League campaign later this month, opening against Real Betis on September 24.
