Police arrests man over hate speech against Igbo on social media

Osun State police arrests Kehinde Adekusibe on Thursday following a hate speech posted on Twitter targeting the Igbo ethnic group.

The statement made by Adekusibe on May 18th, 2023, reads as follows: “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with a passion,” according to a statement by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson.

As soon as the Police Command received the report, detectives from the Cybercrime section at SCID Osogbo promptly initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspect in Ilesa.

Adejobi further revealed that the suspect has admitted to the offence and will face charges in court once the investigation is concluded.
