Pochettino says Chelsea players rely too much on Cole Palmer

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Chelsea players are excessively relying on Cole Palmer to provide results.

Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, has been a standout performer amidst the club’s turbulent season.

Even with Chelsea currently positioned 11th in the Premier League standings, Palmer remains the highest goal scorer with 16 goals.

The former Manchester City star has often been the beacon of hope in challenging times for the Blues.

Despite scoring both goals in Chelsea’s recent match against 10-man Burnley, the team ended up with a 2-2 draw with their opponents at home.

Pochettino, who has always acknowledged Palmer’s positive influence on the team, has now emphasized the need for collective responsibility in his squad.

“He’s a good example for the rest,” remarked Pochettino.

“From day one, he has taken responsibility. When the team struggles to find solutions, they give the ball to him.”

“It’s a dream (to have him). He brings very positive things for the team. And for him to have the possibility to play games he didn’t play in the last year for Manchester City.

“Now he has the continuity and consistency, he’s showing the capacity that we thought he could add to the team.”

“It’s a collective,” he added. “He cannot be happy after a result like this. He is disappointed.”

Despite Chelsea extending their unbeaten league run to five games, Pochettino believes there is room for improvement in the team’s overall performance.
