Napoli president under scrutiny in Osimhen deal investigation

Aurelio De Laurentiis, faced questioning today in connection with an investigation into alleged false accounting surrounding Victor Osimhen deal.

Football Italia reported that the deal, struck in September 2020, valued at €76,356,819, has drawn wide attention.

This is due to the inclusion of the market value of four players transferred to Lille as part of the agreement.

The market values attributed to these players, totaling around €20 million, are under scrutiny for alleged inflation to bolster Napoli’s financial records.

Investigators are said to suspect that these inflated values were manipulated to benefit Napoli’s financial standing.

Meanwhile, Napoli president De Laurentiis, accompanied by his lawyer, appeared at the FIGC prosecutor’s office in Rome.

He reportedly spent approximately 90 minutes of questioning by deputy prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini as part of the investigation into false accounting.

The situation gained traction when Luigi Liguori, one of the players involved, voiced concerns in 2021.

He implied that the deal was not solely for the benefit of the players but served other undisclosed purposes.

Napoli have responded to De Laurentiis’ interrogation with an official statement.

The club clarify that De Laurentiis voluntarily submitted to questioning by the Public Prosecutors of the Rome Prosecutor’s Office as part of the ongoing investigations into the sale of Victor Osimhen.
