Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), arrived in Kebbi on Thursday night alongside his wife, Hajia Bashir Asabe, and son, Abubakar Abdulaziz.

The family’s arrival followed the fulfillment of their ₦1.5 billion bail condition set by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Supporters and relatives gave them a warm and celebratory reception at the airport.

Court Approves Bail

The Federal High Court granted bail to Malami, his wife, and son on Wednesday, stipulating that each of them must provide a release bond of ₦500 million.

In addition, each was required to present two sureties owning verified landed property in highbrow areas of the Federal Capital Territory.

Strict Bail Conditions

The court mandated that the sureties submit affidavits of means and additional documentation to confirm compliance.

The trio was also ordered to deposit their international passports with the court registry and were prohibited from travelling abroad without prior permission.

Malami and his family are facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 16 counts, including alleged money laundering and other financial offences.

The case involves claims of a ₦8.7 billion bribery and illicit fund scheme spanning several years, which the family has denied.
